Employee manuals and handbooks can be as concise or lengthy as you desire, but did you know that if you do have a handbook, you are legally required to include certain information within it? For instance, if you employ 50 or more employees, then you are probably an "employer" as defined by the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and are obligated to include details about employee leave rights. Also, it is highly advisable to have a well defined sexual harassment reporting policy in order to limit potential liability.
